About PEGSABEKA

United through a shared dream and aspirations

The Pegsabeka, a Matigsalug term for unity, is an organization of indigenous people (IP) women from the Matigsalug tribe located in Marilog District, Davao City.

The group was founded with members who shared a common dream for a sustainable livelihood to improve their lives, families, and community.

Pegsabeka aims to sell handcrafted products to help uplift their economic situation as the income generated by their husbands from farming could barely meet the needs of their families.

The group also aims for the overall growth and development of the Matigsalug tribe. They want to see their indigenous products make it big in the online market and reach more locations, not just domestically but internationally as well, as a way to showcase their rich and beautiful culture.

Pegsabeka members thanked the New Zealand Embassy to the Philippines along with its partners Go Negosyo, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao Region, Zeald, and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Davao Region for motivating them to empower themselves through the Uplifting the IP Women Project in Davao.
